Das ‘Clark Doll Experiment’ wurde 1939 von Dr. Kenneth Clark und seiner Frau Mamie durchgeführt, sie konfrontierten schwarze sechs- bis neunjährige Kinder mit zwei identischen Puppen - einer schwarz und einer weiss gefärbten - und stellten den Probanden nacheinander folgende Fragen:

- “Show me the doll that you like best or that you’d like to play with,”
- “Show me the doll that is the ‘nice’ doll,”
- “Show me the doll that looks ‘bad’,”
- “Give me the doll that looks like a white child,”
- “Give me the doll that looks like a coloured child,”
- “Give me the doll that looks like a Negro child,”
- “Give me the doll that looks like you.”

Die letzte Frage zu stellen war, nachdem die Kinder, wie erwartet, grösstenteils die weisse Puppe präferierten, nicht nett.
